AMUS - Acción por el Mundo Salvaje

3 red kites released back into the nature in Extremadura

On 26th February, and with the collaboration of the Sustainability General Direction of the Regional Government of Extremadura and the Councils of Oliva de la Frontera and Valencia del Mombuey (Spain), AMUS-Acción por el Mundo Salvaje (partner of EUROKTE LIFE project) released three red kites back into the nature, which rehabilitated in the wildlife rescue center managed by this Spanish NGO. The releasing place was in the communal estates of Valencia del Mombuey and Oliva de la Frontera muicipalities, an area of 15.000 ha where AMUS and these councils have a collaboration agreement for wildlife conservation. All released birds were equipped with GPS transmitters from the LIFE EUROKITE project to allow the identification of potential threats and increase the knowledge about the species.

This project is supported by the UE LIFE program and the collaboration of Fundación Biodiversidad from the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, ENDESA and Fudación Banco Santander.
